Rawkus
Live returns to the Waterfront for part 6 of the series, again
featuring Norwich's 4 leading pop-punk & emo bands. This
time round Dead Stars, Kneehigh, Bleed 13 and Clench provide
the sets, attracting around 300 fans to the bastard-hot venue.
Bleed
13 impressed with their AFI-influenced stylings, with an impressive
stage presence and devil-locks the Misfits would have killed
for. Kneehigh followed with an ultra-tight pop punk set, obviously
these guys have benefitted from their recent support slots with
bands such as Nerf Herder, Reel Big Fish and Diesel Boy. Far
more mature than they were last time we saw them, this is a
band to watch out for if punk floats your boat. This meant that
Dead Stars had a tough act to follow, and to their credit they
put on a fair performance. The remaining crowd kept the pit
going admirably and bassist Byron seemed to find energy to throw
some wicked shapes despite the rapidly rising heat.
Following
the sets Rawkus resident DJ Jimmy James kept the atmosphere
going till 1am, when we were faced with the amusing site of
crowds of parents picking up their sweaty, really-shouldn't-have-drunk-that-second-alcopop
offspring. Lucky it's the school holidays!
